WELLNESS THROUGH EQUINE MOTION™restbygait.com/rest-for-speech-therapy
REST® Bring the Proven Benefits of Hippotherapy to Your SLP Practice! REST stands for Responsive Equine Simulator Therapy. REST is a seat made specifically for children with neurobehavioral problems. REST simulates the gait of a slow-walking horse, providing the benefits of equine motion therapy…without the need of a horse. SLPs can finally bring the advantages of hippotherapy into their treatment rooms and help children with special needs relax, focus, and improve concentration. Speech and Language Pathologists have reported that children seated on REST need less redirection and have improved attentiveness on tasks. With a balance ball or wobble stool, a child must create their own movement to receive vestibular input. This focus on producing movement distracts children from fully concentrating on tasks. In contrast, REST provides the ideal vestibular input due to its relaxing equine motion, allowing children to better focus on the tasks instead of having to create movement. REST was field-tested for 30 months in homes, hospitals, schools, rehabilitation facilities, and by physical and occupational therapists and SLPs. SLPs in 35 school districts currently utilize REST as a treatment modality to address their clients’ language and communication challenges.
